Pursuant to President Proclamation 493, series of 200, October is the celebration of cooperative month in the Philippines. This year’s theme was “Partners for Building Resilient and Empowered Communities Towards a Better and Stronger Philippinesâ€. Coop Month encourages wider participation of different sectors in nation building through cooperativism.
To celebrate the annual cooperative month, cooperatives all over the province of Cavite gathered at Strike Gymnasium, Bacoor Cavite last October 2, 2018. The event was led by Cavite Governor Boying Remulla, Bacoor City Mayor Lani Mercado Revilla and Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos. They discussed about raising consciousness of people to join coop movement and uphold the principles and values of cooperativism.
Helping Hand Development Cooperative participated in the said event for 3 consecutive years starting from the year 2015 and has received awards along with other cooperatives. The event initiated activities and programs including CO-OPlympics and CO-OPresentation, where HHDC won 2nd Place in the cheer dance category.
The primary objective of Cooperative Month is to develop and promote cooperatives as vehicles for self-reliance and harnessing people power towards the attainment of economic development and social justice.
